The customer is a high street independent pharmacy. They require sensors for use in temperature and humidity monitoring of the dispensing area and to monitor the temperature of the pharmacy refrigerator to comply with PLS guidelines. The customer sought advice from Rototherm in choosing and sourcing the most appropriate equipment to meet their objectives.
Impact on Business
Lack of appropriate monitoring could pose the following risks to the customer:
- risk to patient safety if product not stored at appropriate temperatures
- risk of non-compliance with Regulatory requirements due to lack of documented temperature and humidity records as required by PLS guidelines.

During consultation with the customer, Rototherm determined the customer requirements relating to accuracy, ease of use, price, size, precision, mobility, technical support, calibrations.
Solution Provided
Rototherm recommended the following products and services:
- ThermaData Temperature & Humidity Data logger with display Data Logger for recording temperature and humidity in the dispensing area. This unit can be visually checked regularly and date and time stamped data is downloaded to PC at regular intervals for reporting and regulatory compliance.
- ThermaData Temperature Data logger with display and external temperature probe Data Logger for recording temperature in the refrigerator. This unit can be visually checked regularly and date and time stamped data is downloaded to PC at regular intervals for reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Calibration of each data logger at agreed temperature ranges appropriate to the applications.
- Remote Technical Support for set up etc
Outcome
Customer has the appropriate resources to carry out temperature and humidity monitoring in compliance with PLS guidelines. Remote technical support means that the pharmacy staff can work secure in the knowledge that any technical issues will be dealt with in an efficient, timely and friendly manner.
